Loofah - Imported Egyptian Loofah

Introducing our new line of direct imported loofah products from Egypt. Why Egypt? Egyptian Loofah (luffa aegyptiaca) lasts longer, has more even distribution of fibers, has no sharp edges and is fluffier, softer and more resilient. Since it is whiter in color than Asian and South American loofah, it needs no bleaching, which erodes the fibers. The Egyptian climate and the genetic characteristics of Egyptian loofah, yields a loofah that is rich in fibers, resiliant, soft and almost free from the longitudinal ridges that cause a loofah to split after few uses.

We have selected a number of shapes and styles for your options, including some with terry cloth handles and a more abrasive style to use on those rough skin surfaces on the heel and elbow instead of pumice stones.

Loofah (sometimes spelled loofa, loufa, loufah or luffa) is from the cucumber family. While on it's vine it looks like a huge cucumber, but is rich in fibers on the inside. To get the best texture, it has to be picked at a certain time, soaked in water and then peeled, cleaned of seeds and dried before it is shipped or taken to be manufactured at the workshop. No children are employed by our grower/supplier and all their loofah is organically grown without toxic pesticides or herbicides. And, after the harvest, all plant waste is composted for the next season's crops.
